Android: Chrome or Dolphin?
The Google Chrome app is already preinstalled on Android smartphones and tablets. You can find out in this direct comparison whether a switch to the Dolphin browser is still worthwhile.
a) Chrome as an Android browser
Google Chrome also strongly reminds of the desktop version of the browser on the smartphone. The design is practically the same and the features can also convince:
- Biggest plus: You can use a self-contained system of Google services with YouTube, Chrome, Chromecast, the Google Play Store and Google+. The app also easily compares bookmarks and account data with the PC.
- The best features: With the Chrome app you get all the Chrome functions known from the PC. For example, the tool automatically adds your typed search terms. Of course, you can also surf in an incognito mode.
- Gesture control & translations: Chrome can handle both without problems. You can translate foreign language websites into German with just a tap.
- Flash: Unfortunately, Flash does not support Google Chrome. You also cannot retrofit the feature.
- Speed: In terms of loading speed, the mobile Android Chrome is clearly inferior to the Dolphin. With a fast internet connection you don't have to wait long for the website. However, the app crashes regularly.
b) Dolphin as an Android browser
The popular Dolphin browser also enhances your smartphone with many features:
- Biggest plus: The Dolphin browser is very fast, stable and chic. Although already popular, it is still a real insider tip!
- The best features: You can integrate on the Dolphin plug-ins and customize the look of the browser. The free app is also familiar with PDFs and Word documents.
- Gesture control & translations: Both work perfectly at Dolphin. In addition, there is also a voice control with which you control the browser.
- Flash: Dolphin understands Flash perfectly if you have installed the free "Flash Player".
- Speed: In tests, the Dolphin is one of the fastest Android browsers ever and even superior to the not slow Chrome.
Conclusion: Dolphin scores better in a direct comparison
Ultimately, you get all important functions such as tabbed browsing, auto-completion and short loading times with both browsers. Nevertheless, both apps are suitable for different target groups:
- If you want to use as many PC-known functions as possible for mobile Internet surfing on your Android device and like to personalize your browser, the Dolphin browser is a very good choice - and, incidentally, also superior to the Android version of Firefox.
- However, if you use many Google services, you will not be able to avoid Chrome. The synchronization works almost perfectly, especially with the desktop version.
