Android: Show data consumption
Android offers you a useful function with which you can display your data consumption. This can be useful, for example, if you use a tariff with limited data volume.
Determine data consumption with on-board means
Only a few steps are necessary to display the data consumption. All you have to do is open the "Settings" on your smartphone or tablet and then tap on "Data usage" or "Data usage".
- By default, the graphic shows you your data consumption in the last 30 days. Both sent and received data are taken into account. Below the graphic you can see the approximate data consumption for the period shown.
- Above the graphic you have the possibility to roughly define the "usage period" or the "data consumption cycle" that you want to be displayed.
- At the bottom of the graphic there are two arrows that you can move by touching them. In this way, the exact period can be determined.
- Below the graphic you will find a list of the apps that are responsible for data consumption in the selected period. This allows you to quickly identify the programs that have used up the lion's share of your data volume.
Alternative: Show data consumption with apps
Of course, there are also numerous free and paid apps with which you can conveniently determine and display data consumption. Two good apps are:
- 3G Watchdog: The free app shows you with a colored status symbol how high your data consumption has already been this month. The app also provides detailed statistics.
- Traffic Monitor: In addition to the detailed display of your data consumption, the app also includes a speed test and a task manager.
