Android: Download and sync Dropbox folders
If you want to download and synchronize your Dropbox folders under Android like on a PC, you need a separate app. In this article, we reveal which it is and how to set up cloud synchronization perfectly.
Dropbox: Download and sync folders on Android
With the official Dropbox app for Android, you can only download individual files, but not folders. For offline synchronization you need a special app like Dropbox Sync.
- Install Dropbox Sync on your smartphone or tablet.
- Then start the tool and log in with your Dropbox access data.
- Now define the folders to be synchronized. To do this, tap on the upper field in the "Local folder on device" section and navigate to the directory on your device to which you want to download the Dropbox data.
- Then tap on the second field under "Remote folder in Dropbox" and navigate to the desired folder of your Dropbox.
- Select the "Upload and Download" entry as the "Synchronization method" if you want to synchronize the folder in both directions. Alternatively, you can only allow downloads from the Dropbox or uploads from your device.
- Then set the "Activate synchronization" option to "On" and tap "Save".
- The app now synchronizes both folders and downloads all files from your Dropbox. Depending on the size and network connection, this may take some time.
Android: Activate automatic synchronization with Dropbox
In order for Dropbox Sync to automatically synchronize your files in the background, you have to activate the automatic synchronization.
- To do this, switch to the "Synchronized directories" tab in the app and activate the "Activate automatic synchronization" option.
- Note: Here you can also change the folder pair to be synchronized. If you would like to compare other Dropbox directories, you need the Pro version of the app for 5.99 euros. Touch Upgrade to purchase.
