If you cannot find your own files on the Android device, we will show you where music, pictures or documents are and how you can move them. A file manager app will help you with this.
Find your own files on your Android smartphone or tablet
You can access most of the files directly from the apps provided. For example, you can open pictures and videos by default from the "Photos" or "Gallery" app, your music files can be found in the "Play Music" app. If you want to access documents or move files between directories, you need a file manager:
- Load a file manager like the File Manager onto your smartphone and open the app.
- You will now see an overview of the different file types and you can choose between internal and external storage. How to find all the folders available on your device.
- A camera is shown in the "DCIM" folder - this symbolizes that you will find your photos in it. In the "Pictures" folder you will find screenshots and pictures from some applications. Other folders in which you can find your music, for example, are also marked with a suitable symbol.
- You will also find the "WhatsApp" folder, in which all media files from WhatsApp are stored.
Delete and move files on Android
Stay in the "File Manager" app.
- Hold your finger for about two seconds to select a folder or file. As soon as a small box appears on the symbol, you can let go and tap further folders. This means that an action can be carried out simultaneously for several folders.
- Now press the menu icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner and select, for example, "Move to" to move the files to another folder or to share them.
- If you want to delete a file or folder, select it and press the small trash can icon in the top menu bar.
