Android: Mute individual apps
You can mute individual apps so that not every notification of an app sounds on Android. This can be done either directly via the respective app or via a clever additional tool. We show you exactly how to proceed.
Mute the Android app - this is how it works in the app itself
- First open the app you want to mute, for example WhatsApp.
- Then tap on the three dots at the top right and go to "Settings".
- Then go to "Notifications".
- Now you have to uncheck "Message tones" and set the "Notification tone" to "None". After that, the app stops making a sound when a new message arrives.
- This procedure is similar for most apps.
Mute individual apps using a tool
But since not every app allows you to mute it, you can also take a detour using special tools:
- One such program is "Light Flow".
- Via the item "Notifications" you can select the app for which you want to create a new sound profile.
- Then tap the "Sound" tab. There you can either tick "Enable Sound" or remove it.
- For an even more precise configuration, we recommend the "Tasker" app.
- You can find more information about the app in the CHIP Guide.
