Android: Set Firefox as the default browser
Firefox has a lot of fans. They will be particularly pleased that Firefox can also be set as the default browser for Android. We'll tell you how it's done.
1. Reset standard browser settings
- Open »Settings« and click on the sub-item »Apps«. Depending on the Android version, this can also mean “applications”.
- Now tap on "Manage applications" or "Manage apps".
- Now you have to switch to the "All" tab.
- Tap on the browser that is currently set as your "default application for opening links". This will mostly be the Chrome preset by Android - unless you have already changed the browser. It appears as a »browser« or »internet« in this list.
- Now click on the "Reset default setting" option. This is important, because otherwise the change will not work.
2. Set up Firefox as the default browser for Android
- First, open any link in an Android application. This can be the email program.
- Now select "Firefox" in the selection field and then select "Always" - done!
If Firefox freezes at startup, follow this link - and the steps described in it.
