Android: rotate photos on your smartphone
You can rotate photos that are upside down or on the side with your Android phone. However, the function is somewhat hidden. We show you how to rotate your photo correctly.
Up to Android 4.4: Rotate the photo on the Android smartphone
In the older Android versions, the photo gallery is still used:
- Open the photo gallery and tap the photo you want to rotate.
- Now tap the menu button at the bottom left.
- Tap "Rotate Left" or "Rotate Right" to rotate the image 90 degrees.
From Android 5.0: Rotate photo on the Android smartphone
As of Android 5.0, the photo gallery is no longer available. It has been replaced by the "Google Photo" app.
- Open the Photo app and tap the photo you want to rotate.
- Tap the pencil icon at the bottom.
- Now tap on the symbol with the square and the two arrows in the lower right corner.
- Here you can adjust the angle on the scale below and then rotate the image with the hash symbol.
- Save the photo by tapping the check mark in the lower right.
