Android: Find deleted notifications - how it works
Android notifications are not only useful, they are also quickly wiped away. The deleted messages cannot be found again. However, there are still ways to get old push notifications back.
Retrieve deleted notifications in Android - this is how it works with the Nova Launcher
The system tool required for this is already integrated in Android and lists a few of the most recently received notifications since the device was last restarted. However, this list is hidden in the newer Android versions and can no longer be opened easily. You can easily see them with the Nova Launcher. You can find out how in the following steps.
- Make sure that the device does not restart, as this can lead to the loss of the searched notifications.
- The first thing to do is to install the Nova Launcher. It is not necessary to set up the app to restore the notifications.
- First go to your home screen and long tap on a vacancy. Now you can get to the widget overview.
- Now select the "Activities" widget from the Nova Launcher widgets and drag it anywhere.
- A menu of the selectable activities then opens automatically. Now go to "Settings" and select "Notification log".
- Now you have a shortcut on your homescreen from which you can see some of the most recent notifications since the last restart.
Alternative app
The "Unnotification" app solves the problem of accidentally deleted messages by giving you the option to directly restore the messages you just deleted.
- You can use the so-called blacklist in the app to adjust which apps you do not want the messages to be restored from.
- This will give you a notification when a message has been deleted from a particular app.
- In addition, you can then see the deleted messages again directly from this notification.
- The duration of the app display for the recovery can be adjusted in the settings.
- The app is available free of charge, but only devices from Android 8.0 Oreo are supported.
