Android: change Gmail password
Changing the Gmail password on Android is not that easy. We show you how it works.
Change Gmail password via hidden link
The mobile Google pages including Gmail do not show a link through which you can change the password. A special Google service lets you change your password:
- Go to //accounts.google.com/
- Log in with your data.
- Tap the "Password & Security" field and then go to "Change Password".
- Enter your current password and the new one twice and confirm with "Change password".
Reset forgotten Gmail password on the Android smartphone
Even if you have forgotten your password, the Google Accounts page is the right place to go:
- Go to //accounts.google.com/
- Your Gmail address is already entered in the field. You now have to enter the password to log in. If you forgot it, click the "Need help?" Link under the login button. If an incorrect user account is entered here, select the correct one under "Login with a different account".
- Tap "Forgot Password" and check that the email address in the field matches the one you want to log in with. Click on Continue".
- Confirm that the account now displayed is yours with "Yes, continue".
- Now you should enter the password that you can remember last. If you can't think of anything, click "I don't remember".
- Now you can choose how you want to be verified - by phone number or recovery email address. Select the desired type here.
- Now follow the instructions in the message. With the email confirmation you will receive a message in which you should click a link.
- You can then reset your password.
