Android: Always use Google Maps in the browser
If you prefer Google Maps in the browser under Android and do not want to use the app, set up a link on your smartphone or tablet. We can help you with that.
Google Maps: Set up shortcut on the home screen
- Open the browser with your Android device and enter "Google Maps" in the search bar.
- Select the "Google Maps" hit. A window now appears with the message "Take action with". Here you can choose between the browser and the Google Maps app.
- Select "Chrome" and confirm your selection by tapping "Always". Once you have done this, you will be redirected to the mobile browser version of Google Maps.
- In the next step, tap on the three small dots at the top right to open the settings. Here you select "Add to start screen".
- A link to the browser version of Google Maps will then be set up on your home screen. As soon as you tap the link, your Android device opens Google Maps in your browser.
