Android: activate GPS - how it works
You can activate the GPS function to pinpoint your location with your Android smartphone. This enables navigation via Google Maps, for example. In this practical tip we will show you how.
Activate GPS in the Android settings - how it works
- To quickly activate GPS, you can drag the bar on your smartphone from top to bottom and simply tap on "GPS".
- You can also open the menu and go to "Settings". There, navigate to "Location" and set the switch to "On".
- Use the "Mode" option to select either "High accuracy" or "GPS only".
Determine location without GPS - how it works
To save battery, it is also possible that you have your location determined without GPS. However, no exact results are achieved here.
- Go back to "Settings" and here to "Location".
- Under "Mode" select the "Energy saving mode".
- Your location will then be estimated using WiFi and mobile networks. The difference to the normal location - depending on the mobile operator - is around 200 meters. With this method, therefore, only a very rough location can be identified.
We'll show you what you can do when your GPS stops working in the next article.
