Android: hard reset without data loss - is that possible?
If the Android phone no longer runs properly, sometimes only a "hard reset" helps. We show you here how you can prevent data loss by resetting.
Create backup - so data is not lost
Basically, it cannot be prevented to lose some data during a "hard reset", since the entire smartphone is reset to the factory settings and, above all, settings, app data (e.g. scores), SMS and contacts are deleted. The external memory card is not affected. Just to be sure, you should remove them before the "hard reset". So there is only a comprehensive backup of all important data.
- A complete backup of all data is hardly possible for users with unrooted Android devices. If you synchronize your contacts using your Google account, they will not be lost. For all other data such as settings or SMS, the "My Backup Pro" app is ideal, which can back up the most information on unrooted devices.
- For advanced users with rooted Android phones, on the other hand, the "Titanium Backup" app is ideal. Here you can also completely backup the last app and reinstall it unchanged after the "hard reset". Here you will find general instructions on how to root.
The little brother - does the soft reset help?
- A "hard reset" is not always absolutely necessary. One or the other stutters and hangers in the Android OS can also be eliminated by a so-called "soft reset". This simple restart of the operating system sometimes helps miracles and should be carried out more often.
- To keep Android smooth and fast, you should clean it up regularly. Throw unused files out of the memory, uninstall unnecessary apps - an app like the "Clean Master" can help.
