Android: reassign headset buttons - how it works
With the headset button of your android you control the volume of the call and operate the music player. This practical tip shows you how to reassign the key and add other functions.
Step 1: Install the free Android app "Headset Droid Trial"
- The function of the headset button cannot be assigned otherwise without a special app.
- You need a separate app called "Headset Droid Trial". You can download this free of charge from Google Play.
- Open the app after installation and then follow the instructions from the 2nd paragraph.
Step 2: How to reassign the button on your headset
In principle, with Headset Droid you can reassign all three buttons of your headset via the menu. You can specify which function is to be carried out with normal, double, triple or quadruple actuation. In addition, there is also the setting for double or triple click with hold.
- First tap on the "Button actions" entry in the "Settings" menu.
- You can set the play or pause button under "Play / pause button actions". You can e.g. For example, you can choose to run a specific app with a single click or to announce the time.
- Under "Next button actions" you define the function for the "Next" button. You can choose from the same settings that you have for the play button.
- Finally, change the button assignment of the "Back" button under the "Previous button actions" entry. Again, the functions available are identical to the others.
- In the "Phone-actions" entry you can also specify which key you use to answer a call or how you can mute the microphone.
- You can also select an acoustic signal in the "Audio feedback" setting entry that should sound when the buttons are pressed.
