Android: Remove HummingBad virus
HummingBad is malware that is difficult to remove from your smartphone. The detection of the pest is also complex. We give you tips and show you how to recognize and get rid of the unwanted program.
How do I recognize HummingBad?
- The origin of the adware called HummingBad probably lies in China. It generates money for the creators by displaying advertising banners on their smartphone or simulating clicks on the banners.
- You can catch the malware via around 200 infected apps from the Playstore. So pay special attention to apps with a Chinese description and poorly translated content.
- So far, HummingBad is only widespread in Asia, but there are already tens of thousands of cases in Germany.
- Basically, you generate money for malware programmers by showing more advertising banners. However, the software is also able to install other apps from the Internet that may cause damage in other ways.
- Unfortunately, this is also the only way to recognize the program. If you receive advertisements more often than usual or if apps appear that you have not installed yourself, you may be affected.
Remove the HummingBad completely
- No Android virus scanner can yet detect and remove the malware. HummingBad also installs a rootkit, which makes manual removal considerably more difficult.
- So far, the only way to safely remove the adware is to do a full factory reset.
