Android / iPhone: Suppress call number transmission
If you do not want certain contacts to find out your number, you can specifically suppress caller ID. You can find out how this works in this practical tip.
Suppress phone number suppression once
- This trick works with any phone: Enter "# 31 #" in front of the desired number in the keypad and dial it. So your phone number is not transmitted.
Suppress call number transmission with your Android smartphone
- Create a new contact or edit an existing one.
- Enter "# 31 #" in front of the actual telephone number and save the entry.
- If you want to decide whether your call partner should see your number before calling, you can easily add another number to a contact, which also begins with "# 31 #".
- If you only want to suppress your phone number once, press and hold the desired number, then tap "Copy to clipboard" and paste it into the number pad. Place your cursor in front of the number and enter "# 31 #".
Targeted number suppression on the iPhone
The iPhone works in a similar way to Android smartphones:
- If you want to permanently suppress your number for a specific contact, edit this contact and put the string "# 31 #" in front of the telephone number.
- To hide your own number only once, you have to enter "# 31 #" in the keypad and then the telephone number. Your number will not be shown to the other person.
