Android: contact list is updated - you can do that
If you get a message on your Android smartphone that your contact list is being updated, this is usually a normal process. However, if the message comes up more often, this could become a problem. We'll show you how to solve it.
Contact list is constantly updated on Android
The problem with the contact list seems to mainly occur on Samsung smartphones with Android 5. The Galaxy S5 in particular, but also the Galaxy S4 and some Note devices are affected.
- Restart: If the message is displayed for the first time, just wait a bit. If the message doesn't disappear or keeps coming back, switch your smartphone off and on again. If that doesn't help, the following steps will take you further.
- Contacts cache: Open the "Settings" app and switch to "Application Manager" above. You will now find the "Contacts" app under the "All" category. Tap Force Stop and Clear Cache. After a restart, the synchronization should work again.
- Google cache: If that doesn't work, select the "Sync Google contacts" application instead of the Contacts app. Here tap on "Force stop", "Clear data" and "Clear cache".
