Android: hide media files - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to hide your media files on your Android device from unwanted glances.
Hide media files on Android with .nomedia
- The easiest way to hide media files such as pictures and videos in Android is to create a file with the name ".nomedia" in the corresponding folder. From now on, all files in this folder will no longer be displayed in the gallery or video player, so you should create a folder structure beforehand so that only the files that you want to hide "disappear".
- Incidentally, you can achieve the same result if you place a dot in front of the folder name, ie ".foldername".
- Alternatively, you can hide your files in specialized apps. Applications such as "KeepSafe" or "QuickPic" are ideal here. This provides your pictures with password protection and, in the case of "KeepSafe", the option of releasing individual files via a link.
- Please note that the files do not really disappear or are only superficially protected by a password. They can still be viewed with a file manager that has access to your device.
