Android: Not enough space - what to do?
If you do not have enough storage space on your Android smartphone, you have several options to choose from. We'll tell you this in this practical tip.
Not enough space on Android - you can do that
If the memory on the Android smartphone is full again, you should clear it as soon as possible so that the system can work properly:
- For example, you can delete apps that you no longer need or have never used.
- To do this, open the settings on your device and then go to "Manage apps". Tap the app you want to remove and choose "Uninstall."
- Under "Manage apps" you can select any app. In the lower part you can see the data that the application has collected. With a click on "delete data" this will be removed.
- With most apps such as Facebook, all you have to do is log in again.
- Note: We do not recommend that you delete the data from WhatsApp or similar apps, otherwise all chat histories will be lost.
- You will often find a "Download" folder in the main directory of your smartphone. There, delete all files that you no longer need.
- As of Android 4.3, you can specify where the default location is on the device. You can find this option in Settings> "Device"> "Storage" under "Standard storage location".
Other options: insufficient storage space on Android
- You can also try moving the apps to the SD card to free up internal storage space.
- However, if you also run out of space on the SD card, you should buy a larger SD card.
- Note that some devices support a maximum size of 32 GB, but others support up to 64 GB. You can find information on this in the manual of your smartphone.
- If too much data has already accumulated, you can also reset your Android. However, all data will be lost.
This practical tip is based on Android 4.3. If the smartphone is too slow, you should free up RAM on Android. We will show you how in the next practical tip.
