Android: set Opera as the default browser
In this practical tip we show you how to change the default browser and set up Opera on your Android smartphone or tablet - here's how:
How to set Opera as the default Android browser
Opera is the fourth most popular internet browser. It scores in terms of security, but is not compatible with all websites because most developers do not test explicitly with Opera.
- First install Opera for Android.
- Go to your Android »Settings« and click here »Application Manager«.
- Select your previous standard browser for the Internet in the »Application Manager«. It is often simply called the "Internet".
- Then scroll down to the "Start by default" option.
- There, click on the "Delete default values" button.
- Your Android device is now ready for a new standard browser.
- If you now click on an external link, for example in an email, you can select the browser with which it should be opened.
- You can also tick whether your Android device should now always open websites with this selected Internet browser.
