Enable Android sleep mode
Android sleep mode allows you to disable individual notifications for a period of time. In contrast to airplane or offline mode, you are still logged on to the network. Only a notification (tones or vibrations) is missing. It is advantageous that you can plan the sleep mode for certain times so that it is automatically activated and deactivated again.
Activate sleep mode on Android - in 5 steps
- First of all, open the Settings app via the homescreen. Alternatively, swipe (from Android 4.X) from top to bottom of the menu bar. Then tap the small gear in the top right and open the settings.
- In Android 4.X and higher, tap on the "My device" tab and then on "Sleep mode". In other versions, swipe up to the "Sleep mode" item.
- To activate the sleep mode, tap the control on the top right so that it turns green.
- Now you can individually adjust the sleep mode by ticking the relevant entry. In order to block calls or to switch off the alarm and timer, check the "Block incoming calls" and "Deactivate alarm and timer" entries.
- Under the item "Set time" you can specify when the sleep mode should be activated automatically. You can use "Allowed contacts" to determine which messages or calls you still want to be informed about by certain contacts.
On the next page we will show you how you can block SMS reception on your android. A Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.2 was used for this practical tip.
