Android: set hibernation - how it works
In the following practical tip, we will tell you how to set hibernation on your Android device.
Set hibernation on Android device
If you are busy with the smartphone and do not want to constantly unlock the display again, you can adjust the idle state to your own needs in the settings. And this is how it works:
- Go to the settings for your android.
- Select the menu item "Display" or "Display".
- Under "Hibernation" or "Display timeout" you can now select a specific period for which the smartphone screen remains active and does not switch off. The time span here usually ranges from 15 seconds to 30 minutes.
Deactivate hibernation during charging
It is also possible to completely deactivate hibernation when the smartphone is connected to the charging cable. You can find the corresponding setting in the developer options. If the developer options are not visible on your android, read here how to activate them.
- The third menu item in the developer options contains the function "leave active". Check the box here. Your smartphone will no longer be put to sleep during charging and the display will remain active.
- If the screen should not turn off for a certain time even without a charging cable connected and you are too thin for the specified times in the settings, try using an appropriate app such as "Keep Screen On".
