Android: change font size and font - how it works
With Android, the font and font size can be changed with restrictions. In the following practical tip, we will show you what possibilities there are.
Change font size on Android smartphones
The font size can be easily changed on Google, HTC and Sony devices. Depending on the device, proceed as follows:
- Open the settings on your android.
- Select the menu item "Display" or "Display".
- On Nexus devices, for example, you will find the "Font size" option here and you can choose between four different levels in a pop-up menu.
- The changes are applied immediately.
Change font on Android smartphones
Fonts cannot be easily changed on most devices. Here are the options you have:
- For HTC, Sony and Nexus devices you have to root your smartphone and can then use other fonts via a CustomROM such as CyanogenMOD and the Font Installer app.
- Another option for changing fonts are alternative launcher such as the GO launcher EX. Here you can scan for fonts using the advanced settings and move new fonts to the system folder. Warning: The font change only applies to the launcher. You need full root access for a system-wide font change.
Change font on Samsung smartphones
Samsung smartphones have the advantage that the font can be changed using on-board tools and you do not need a launcher or root rights. Here's how to do it:
- Open the settings on your device and scroll down.
- Choose View> Font Style.
- In the pop-up window you can now choose between a few pre-installed fonts. The changes are accepted immediately with the confirmation.
- Alternatively, you can install additional fonts. To do this, tap the "Get fonts online" button.
- You will be directed to the Google Play Store, where you will find various font packages that you can install additionally.
- Under the "Font" section you can also change the font size if necessary with just a few taps.
