With just one hand, you can take a screenshot on Android. We'll tell you exactly how this works on smartphones and tablets and which alternatives the different manufacturers offer.
Take a screenshot on the Android smartphone
The process is always the same on most smartphones from Samsung, HTC, Sony, Huawei and Co.
- Just hold down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously for a few seconds.
- The screen then flashes briefly. If the cell phone is not muted, a signal usually sounds. You will then find the screenshot in your photos in the separate "Screenshots" folder.
- On many smartphones you also have the option of calling up or sharing the screenshot. In this case it is displayed for a few seconds before it disappears.
Other ways to get the screenshot
If the Power and Volume Down buttons don't work, try the Power button and the Home button. Some manufacturers also offer other ways.
- Samsung: Put your hand edge on the display and swipe from right to left, a screenshot is also taken. If you use a Galaxy Note, you can take the screenshot using the S-Pen. Alternatively, Bixby can run the screenshot by voice command. To do this, press the Bixby button on the left of the device.
- Huawei / Honor: The Chinese manufacturer has come up with something similar to the swipe gesture from Samsung. If you tap the display twice with your knuckles, a screenshot is automatically taken.
- Sony: The screenshot is very cumbersome on older Sony smartphones. Hold the power button here until a menu appears. Now press the plus symbol.
- Every current Android smartphone uses the Google Assistant. Here you can execute the screenshot by voice command. However, this is not really practical.
Android: Take a screenshot on the tablet
To take a screenshot on the Android tablet, proceed as follows:
- Press and hold the power and home buttons and wait for a sound to sound.
- If that doesn't work, press and hold the power and volume down or back button.
- Here, too, the screenshots are saved in the "Screenshots" folder on the SD card or internal memory.
