Connect Android smartphone to projector

With the right accessories, you can connect your Android smartphone to a projector. We'll show you what you need and how to do it.

Option 1: Connect the Android smartphone to the projector using the MHL adapter

With the Mobile High-Definition Link Adapter, or MHL adapter for short, you can turn your smartphone into an entertainment device:

• The MHL adapter is connected via the micro USB port of your smartphone. The other end is the HDMI connection, which must be connected to the projector.
• Unfortunately, not all providers support this adapter, which is why you have to make sure that the adapter is compatible with your smartphone when buying.
• You can get such an adapter from Amazon for about 13 euros.

2nd option: Original accessories from the manufacturer

Some manufacturers offer accessories with which you can also connect the smartphone to a projector:

• The manufacturer HTC has launched a small box called "HTC Media Link". You only have to connect this to the projector and supply it with electricity. The connection to the smartphone then works via WLAN. According to HTC, Media Link also supports smartphones from other manufacturers.
• Samsung has specially developed an HDMI adapter for its smartphones. You only need to supply it with power (the corresponding cable is included) and connect it to a smartphone and projector. Unfortunately, Samsung does not provide any information about the compatibility with other devices.
• Sony offers its own MHL adapter for its Xperia smartphones. It works as described above. No additional software is required here either.

3rd option: Wireless transmission system for connection to the projector

So-called wireless transmission systems offer a universal solution for all smartphones:

• The "Wireless Presentation System" works similarly to the "HTC Media-Link". Connect it to the projector and connect your smartphone to the station via WiFi. The screen content of the smartphone is then displayed in high definition.
• Unfortunately, such devices are expensive to buy, which is why they are only recommended for large customers or companies.
