Android: Transfer smartphone screen to Chromecast
It has recently become possible to transfer your smartphone screen to Chromecast. We show you how you can use this function with your Android smartphone.
Android: Transfer smartphone screen to Chromecast
Transferring the smartphone screen to Chromecast is only available to Android users. So far, however, this function is only available on a handful of smartphones. Please also note that the function is still in a beta phase and errors may occur. A list of all smartphones supported so far can be found below.
- To transfer the screen of your Android smartphone to Chromecast, you first need the Chromecast app. Also make sure that your smartphone and the Chromecast stick are on the same network.
- Now open the Chromecast app and select the "Transfer screen" option in the navigation bar.
- Now tap "Transfer Screen" and select your Chromecast. Your Chromecast can only be viewed if both devices are on the same network.
Stop screen transfer to Chromecast
You can end the screen transfer at any time using two different methods.
- Pull down the notification bar. Select the "Stop Transfer" option.
- Alternatively, you can open the Chromecast app again and select "Transfer screen" in the navigation bar and then "Disconnect".

So far, screen transmission is only supported by a few selected smartphones, which we list below. An up-to-date list can be found on the corresponding Google support page.
