If you transfer apps to a new Android smartphone, you are sure to want to take your scores with you. To do this, you have to save them. We'll show you how to do that now.
Android: How to back up your saves with Titanium Backup
The free Titanium Backup tool not only backs up your apps, but also all app data.
- Install Titanium Backup on your Android smartphone, you can easily backup apps and saves. For this to work, you must first root your Android.
- The tool saves the data of an app in a separate file. Then transfer this file via USB to another Android device. Alternatively, you can send the data by email.
- If you finally install a game on the new device, all saves will be taken away. However, this method of taking game saves only works as long as you have not previously installed the game on the new device.
- You can find detailed instructions for creating Android backups with Titanium Backup in our practical tips.
Android: save games with DataSync
With the Android app DataSync, you can easily synchronize your games with other devices.
- To transfer and save games to another Android device, you must have DataSync installed on both devices.
- Then just select the game on the phone whose scores you want to save. If you confirm the data synchronization, all app data will be transferred to the other device.
- The transmission takes place in the free version via WLAN. As a result, both devices must be logged into the same network.
- If you invest 1.99 euros (current costs) in the DataSync + version, you can also copy data via Bluetooth and NFC. This version also allows automated synchronization.
Transfer Android saves without root
There is also a way to save saves without an app and also without root and to transfer them to another Android smartphone. However, you have to take several steps here.
- First you need to activate the developer options on your android and also install the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) on your computer.
- You also need the package ID of the game. The easiest way to find out is to go to the game on the web version of the Google Play Store. There the package ID is in the URL behind "//play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=" and before the attachment "& hl = de".
- Example for the app ID: The game "Jewels Legend" has the URL //play.google.com/store/apps/details?id= com.linkdesks.jewellegend & hl = de in the Play Store. The part in bold is the package ID of this game.
- Once this is done, connect your cell phone to your computer via USB and open the command prompt. Change here to the path where you installed the Android Debug Bridge. You can do this with the "cd" command. For example, if the "ADB" folder in the programs is on C:, the command is "cd C: \ Program \ ADB \".
- Now enter the command "adb devices" and confirm with Enter. To continue, the next step is to confirm the debugging request on your smartphone.
- If your Android smartphone is displayed in the terminal, enter the command "adb backup -f [name for the backup] .ab [PACKAGE_ID]" (without quotes) to save the scores. You can choose the name for the backup.
- So that the backup can be created, you only have to confirm this on your smartphone. You may be asked to assign a password. Note: Even if the confirmation on the mobile phone suggests that a complete backup will be created, only the scores will be saved.
- If you want to transfer the scores to another Android device, make sure that the developer options are activated here too. Connect the mobile phone to your PC and enter the command "adb restore [name for the backup] .ab" after the command "" adb devices "followed by confirmation on the smartphone.
- On the new smartphone, you now have to enter the previously defined password for the backup so that the scores can be transferred.
