Android: set standard apps
Android lets its users determine which standard apps they want to use. In this guide, we show you how to set these standard apps.
Set standard apps for Android smartphones
- Whenever you open a shortcut, file or similar on your Android smartphone, you can choose which app you want to use to open it.
- You can choose whether you only want to use this app this time or always. By clicking on "Always", you can easily set standard apps for certain processes.
Delete standard apps shortcuts
However, if you ever want to change the standard app, you must first delete the shortcuts. You can either delete all links or only individual ones:
- Delete all shortcuts: All app shortcuts are really lost. You can then choose a new standard app for each process. To do this, open your "Settings app"> "Apps" and click on the menu button. Select "Reset all app settings" here. After confirmation of the warning, all links are deleted.
- Delete individual shortcut: Open the "Settings app" again and then click on "Apps". Find the application in question in the list. Click on this and select "Reset default settings". Then the shortcuts of the app were deleted.
