Android TV vs Fire TV: systems in comparison
Both Android TV and Fire TV are promising entertainment systems. But where exactly are the differences? You can find out in this practical tip.
Android TV or Fire TV - you need to know that
Android TV from Google or Amazon's Fire TV - which solution is better? One thing is certain: Both platforms have their advantages and disadvantages.
- A big advantage of Fire TV is undoubtedly Alexa. This digital assistant is intended to help the user in many everyday situations and is already integrated in some households. Alexa not only answers questions on this device, but also controls the playback of films, for example.
- The big plus of Android TV, on the other hand, is that you can use many of your apps on TV via Google Cast. Android TV is clearly ahead when it comes to available apps - with one exception: Amazon's streaming apps are not compatible with Google's TV solution.
- You can control the Fire TV Stick either with your smartphone or with the supplied remote control - or with Alexa. Many Android TV boxes also have a remote control, but mostly the smartphone should be used for control.
- Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks are made to order by Amazon, while Android TV is an operating system for entertainment boxes. Therefore, Fire TVs are only available from Amazon, while many manufacturers use Android TV for their TVs or streaming boxes.
- In terms of price, the Fire TV at 80 euros and the Fire TV Stick at 40 euros are significantly below the level of solid Android TV boxes.
- If you already use Amazon Prime and enjoy all the advantages of it, the Fire TV or the Fire TV Stick is a good choice. The entertainment systems are inexpensive and generally worked well. However, if you want a streaming solution that covers the widest possible range of apps, you should be better served with Android TV.
