Sync Android and Thunderbird calendars
You can sync your Android and Thunderbird calendars using Google Calendar. In this guide, we will show you how to set up synchronization.
Step 1: set up calendar synchronization on Android
You already created a Google account when you set up your Android smartphone. Every Google account also has a Google calendar.
- The additional creation of a calendar is not necessary. Simply use the existing calendar on your Android smartphone.
- Make sure that calendar entries are saved in your Google calendar and not in your additional Samsung calendar.
Step 2: Get Google Calendar Link
To set up the calendar in Thunderbird you need the unique ICS link of the Google calendar.
- Open the Google calendar in your browser on the PC.
- On the left is a list of your calendars.
- Hover over the calendar you want to sync and click the arrow to the right. Then select the "Calendar Settings".
- In the "Calendar details" you will find the "private address" of your calendar below. Right click on the green field labeled ICAL and select "Save Link Address".
Step 3: set up calendar synchronization on the Android smartphone
Thunderbird first requires two addons to be able to synchronize with the Google calendar.
- Just follow the links to Lightning and Provider for Google Calendar and click on "Download". Then open the files and install the addons in Thunderbird.
- After restarting Thunderbird you can open the calendar in the upper menu under "Appointments and tasks".
- The list of your calendars is on the left. Right click and choose "New Calendar".
- Select "In the network" and confirm with "Continue".
- Click on "Google Calendar" and paste the link to your Google Calendar from the clipboard into the "Address" field. Confirm with "Continue".
- After you have entered the access data of your Google account, you can use it in Thunderbird. All appointments are now automatically synchronized between your Android smartphone and Thunderbird.
