Android: install update
In this article, we will show you how to install an Android update. It is recommended to always have the latest software on your smartphone. With every update, security gaps are closed and the performance of the system is improved.
Install Android update via the settings
If you want to update Android, you have several options. It is easiest to start a so-called "over-the-air" update. All you have to do is go to the Android settings and install the update. That's how it's done:
- Go to the settings of your smartphone.
- Scroll to the menu item "About this device" or "Device info". Tap on it.
- At the top is the item "System updates". Click on it.
- Android now checks for updates. If so, Android will download them automatically and you only have to give your consent to the update.
- Android then carries out the update. Your smartphone should hang on the power adapter during installation or at least have a fully charged battery. Never restart the device yourself. This could damage your Android installation.
- If the homescreen is displayed again, Android has successfully carried out the update.
