Android: remove widget - how it works
You can remove widgets at any time on the Android smartphone. So you create more space on the homescreen. Our instructions show you exactly how this works.
Remove widget on Android smartphone
- To remove a widget on your smartphone, first tap and hold your finger on it.
- This switches to edit mode, in which you can move and remove the widget.
- To completely remove it, slide it upwards to the "Remove" lettering (see picture). Depending on the Android version, you may sometimes only find a recycle bin.
- Note: The widget is still available on the smartphone, but is not active. To delete it entirely, you must also delete the associated app.
- Note: Some widgets cannot be removed from some phones because they are preinstalled from the system. To remove them, you must first root your smartphone.
Many widgets are quite unnecessary - but this one is not: We will show you how to read messages on the homescreen using the WhatsApp widget.
