Amplifying the antenna: tips and tricks for a better signal
Listening to television or radio with poor signals and noise is no fun. We show you how to amplify your antennas and thus improve the signal.
Amplify FM antenna - the best tips
- The easiest way is to spread the existing antenna of your FM radio better. Often it lies unnoticed in the middle of the cable clutter behind the box. Try to make the antenna as large as possible.
- Thick walls are often an insurmountable hurdle for radio waves. So move your radio closer to the window.
- If the first two tips didn't work, extending the antenna might help. To do this, remove the insulation on the last centimeter of the antenna cable and connect it with a thin wire. It should be about the same thickness as the antenna and must also be stripped at the contact point.
- If you have a house radio antenna, you can connect the antenna cable to the middle pin of the antenna socket.
Amplify DVB-T signal - how it works
- Depending on the reception situation, an active indoor antenna is often sufficient. It is connected to the mains and amplifies the DVB-T signal. The antenna should be placed close to the window to ensure optimal reception. Also make sure that your receiver has an LTE filter. Otherwise, the 4G frequencies can interfere.
- If a room antenna is no longer sufficient, you must open larger guns. One possibility is to mount an external antenna. In this practical tip, you can read about the types of outdoor antennas and what you have to take into account at the month.
