AntiVir: Delete quarantine viruses
In this practical tip, we will show you how to delete viruses from quarantine in AntiVir. You can either completely remove the malware or restore harmless files.
How to delete quarantine viruses from AntiVir
- Open the "AntiVir" program.
- Go to "Quarantine" in the menu bar on the left under "Administration".
- Click once with the left mouse button on the viruses that you want to delete from the quarantine.
- Then click on the X symbol at the top and confirm the dialog box with "Yes". The virus will now be removed from your system.
- However, if you are sure that an entry is a false alarm, you can mark it with the mouse and click on the arrow symbol in the menu bar to restore the file to its original location.
Is it safe to delete a virus from AntiVir quarantine?
- As soon as a virus is quarantined by AntiVir, the affected file can no longer be opened by the system.
- If you delete a virus from quarantine, it will not be released to your system again, but will be permanently removed from your hard drive. Warning: there is malware that can reproduce itself and that cannot be removed.
- Only if you are not sure whether the affected file is actually malicious or not should you simply leave it in quarantine. Otherwise, you should delete the viruses found from AntiVir's quarantine so that the file finally disappears from your hard drive.
- Scan your system for viruses again after each deletion to ensure that the malware has not replicated.
