Apex Legends: Connection to the server has expired - that means the error
If you receive the error message "Connection to the server has expired" in Apex Legends, this can have different causes. We clarify what you can do.
Connection to server has expired: problems with Apex Legends
Since Apex Legends only works online as a BR shooter, you need to be able to join the server. The "Connection to server has expired" error usually has one of three causes:
- Apex Legends servers are down: If the servers are overloaded or require maintenance, you can not play but only wait. If there are any problems, you can find out for example on the official Twitter page.
- Inactive for too long: If you have been in the home screen for a while without moving the mouse, you will be kicked out of the server due to inactivity.
- Problems with the Internet connection: If your Internet fails or is very slow, the time allowed to connect to Apex Legends is exceeded. You receive the error message and the connection is broken.
Solve Internet Problems
While there is nothing you can do about server problems, a slow internet connection can often be fixed. The following steps will help:
- Connect streams, YouTube videos & Co. if you want to play Apex to have a better ping. Stop all downloads - also on other devices such as smartphones, other PCs and so on.
- Restart the router by disconnecting it from the power for about 15 seconds.
- Run a DSL speed test to see if your connection is generally very slow.
- If you play Apex over Wi-Fi, there may be more problems than with a wired connection. Check whether you can keep the connection to the server via LAN cable.
- If your internet stays slow, call your internet provider for technical support.
