Transfer Apple Care Protection Plan - how it works
If you want to sell your iPhone, which is still protected by the "AppleCare Protection Plan", you can transfer the guarantee to the buyer. In addition, an "AppleCare Protection Plan" that is still active can also be transferred if an Apple device has been replaced with a new one. To do this, you must contact Apple. We'll show you how it works.
Transfer AppleCare Protection Plan to a buyer: Necessary data
To transfer Apple Care to the future owner of your iPhone or iPad, you need some documents and data:
- AppleCare contract number: You can find this on the back of the Protection Plan packaging.
- Serial number of the device sold: For iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, you can find this via "Settings"> "General"> "Info". On the Mac, choose the apple icon> "About This Mac"> "More Information" from the top menu bar.
- Data of the new owner: You need his full name, his address, email address and telephone number.
How to transfer AppleCare to the new iPhone owner
- Put on a short letter explaining that you want to transfer your "AppleCare Protection Plan". Indicate which device it is (incl. Serial number) and state the complete data of the buyer. The screenshot shows an example of such a cover letter.
- Fax the letter to +353 021 428 3917. Please note, however, that this is an Irish connection and therefore higher costs may arise. Unfortunately there is no German number to which you can send the letter.
- Alternatively, send the letter by post to: Apple Customer Support, Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Republic of Ireland.

- Select "Request for APP transfer xxxx" as the subject. Instead of the "x" insert the AppleCare contract number.
