If the Apple HomePod does not respond properly, you can turn it off and restart it. However, there is no function specifically intended for this. Instead, you have to work with tricks in both cases.
Switch off Apple HomePod completely and restart
The Apple HomePod is designed to answer your questions at any time via Siri and to respond to the "Hey Siri" command. For this reason, the device cannot simply be switched off and, accordingly, cannot be restarted. Instead, you need to disconnect the HomePod from the power, which works in two ways:
- Pull the plug: Pull the power plug to switch off the Apple HomePod completely. The loudspeaker does not work without electricity. As soon as you reconnect it to the mains, the HomePod will automatically restart and reconnect to your home network.
- Socket with toggle switch : Instead of pulling the plug yourself, you can use a socket strip with toggle switch. These are already available online for around 5 euros. Press the switch to turn off the HomePod. As soon as you reactivate the current flow, the smart speaker restarts automatically and is ready for use again after a few seconds.
