If you are the proud owner of an Apple HomePod, you can also connect the speaker to your TV and use it for audio playback. You can find out how this works and what the requirements are here.
Connect Apple HomePod to TV - so it'll work
In addition to a HomePod and a TV, you also need an Apple TV of at least the 4th generation to connect.
- The connection between the TV and HomePod is established via AirPlay, i.e. via Apple TV. For this to work, HomePod and Apple TV must be in the same WiFi.
- First call up the settings of your Apple TV.
- In the settings, select the "Video and audio" item, then "Audio output".
- In the following step you select "other devices" and here your HomePod. Now the HomePod is set up as an extension of the Apple TV.
Easily connect TV to HomePod via Siri Remote
If you are watching an exciting film, you can choose the HomePod as a playback device by using the Siri Remote, which has been included with the Apple TV since the 4th generation.
- To do this, swipe down on the Siri Remote Touch surface made of glass, the trackpad.
- If you swipe right once, the audio tab opens.
- Now swipe down again to control the HomePod as an output device.
