Listen to the radio with the Apple HomePod
Whether the Apple HomePod is really worth the money has already been discussed in other places. But the fact is that the speaker is delivered without a conventional radio antenna. There is also no support for independent streaming of web radio.
- If you don't want to do without streaming radio stations, a detour via AirPlay will help. You can also use it to transmit sound from your iPhone.
- To do this, download an AirPlay-enabled radio app to your iPhone - for example TuneIn.
- Make sure that the iPhone is in the same WiFi network as your HomePod and open your radio app.
- Find a station you want to listen to and play it. You should now see the AirPlay icon at the latest. Tap on it and select your HomePod. After a short time, the stream runs on your smart speaker.
- On your iPhone, you can also open the control center and long press on the player. Now tap the AirPlay icon and select your HomePod.
The next practical tip will tell you how to use AirPlay on your Windows computer.
