With some practical tips, you can significantly save battery with Apple's iOS. Even if you don't use all the tricks, the runtime of the iPad or iPhone is noticeably longer. We have listed the best tricks for you below.
New features from iOS 9 to save battery
As of iOS 9, some exciting power-saving functions have made it onto Apple's iDevices.
- The most practical feature is the power saving mode. If you still have a 20 percent battery, you will be asked if you want to activate it. Alternatively, it can be switched on under "Settings" -> "Battery".
- The power saving mode disables automatic app updates, mail retrievals and downloads. It also reduces visual effects. This saves you some battery percentages.
- The power saving mode is not yet available on the iPad. Here you have to make the settings manually.
- As of iOS 9, "Facedown Detection" is automatically activated: As soon as your iPhone lies with the display facing down, it does not switch on the screen, even with notifications.
- Apple's new operating system also allows ad blockers for Safari for the first time. These not only make surfing more pleasant, they also save data volume and energy.
Find apps with high battery consumption
Not all apps consume a significant amount of battery - mostly it is only a few power guzzlers that drastically drain the battery. If you end the apps with the highest battery consumption or use them less, the runtime of your iPhone will also increase.
- The apps with the highest consumption can be found under "Settings" -> "Battery". You can sort them either by the energy consumption of the last seven days or the last 24 hours.
- If there is a "background update" under an app, that is the reason for the majority of consumption. You can deactivate the update if you select the respective app under "Settings".
Deactivate services and other tips for saving battery power from iOS 9
- Deactivate Bluetooth when you don't need it. This saves a lot of battery, especially for devices under the iPhone 6, because Bluetooth "Low Energy" is not yet installed there.
- If you are on the go, you should disable WiFi. Then your iPhone will not search for available networks in the background.
- If you only have one iDevice, you should disable the iCloud keychain. Otherwise, it tries to synchronize your passwords across multiple devices.
- Reduce the time until the display turns off automatically. The iPhone display is not switched on for an unnecessarily long time.
- Under "Settings", "General" and then "Accessibility" you can "Reduce movements". This deactivates some animations and saves battery.
- Reducing the display brightness also saves a lot of battery.
