Apple Mail: Set up filters - how it works
With Apple Mail, you can set up filters to sort or forward your email. We'll show you how to set up filters.
Set up filters in Apple Mail
By creating filters, you can move or forward new emails directly to the appropriate folder.
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Click on "Mail" in the top bar and then on "Settings".
- In the "Rules" menu you can create and edit your own filters. First click on "Add rule".
- You can now set the options for your first filter: In the description field, give the filter a name. In the first option field you determine the criteria with which the filter is activated. In the second option field you determine what should happen to the emails.
- Confirm your filter by clicking "OK". From now on, all new emails will be automatically sorted according to your filter. You can set up as many filters as you want.
