Apple Music: Set up family sharing - how it works
If you want to share your Apple Music subscription with your family, you can do so using Family Sharing. We'll show you how to set it up and use Apple Music on all devices.
Set up family sharing for Apple Music
Note: If you have already set up family sharing, the subscription is automatically activated on the other devices. If there are any problems with the activation, read on in the next paragraph.
- First, open the "Settings" app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
- Under the "iCloud" category you will now find the "Set up family sharing" option.
- Tap on "Let's go" and then on the "Continue" button.
- Log in with your Apple ID and confirm a payment method.
- The "Add family member" option allows you to add five more people to their family share via their email address.
Apple Music: Family Sharing Issues
There are currently some issues with family sharing and Apple Music. Despite the family approval, the remaining members are asked to activate the subscription. However, the problem can be solved with a little trick:
- Open the "Settings" app again and select the "iTunes & App Store" category.
- Tap the Apple ID at the top and select the "Show Apple ID" option.
- If you log in here with the correct password, the data will be updated.
- Family sharing should now work properly with Apple Music again.
