Apple Music: Playlists gone - you can do that
After an iTunes update, the playlists in Apple Music may be gone. This is annoying, but we'll show you what you can do in this case.
Apple Music - Playlists gone after update
If you don't update your library file immediately after the iTunes update, the playlists will not be imported. However, you can restore the playlists. To do this, you must first quit iTunes.
- Open the folder that contains the iTunes library files. In Mac OS X, you can go to the Finder menu "Go -> User Folder" and there via "Music -> iTunes". On Windows you will find the files under "\ Users \ username \ Music \ iTunes \".
- In this folder you should see the "iTunes Library.itl" file. Drag this onto the desk.
- Actually, the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and a YYYY-MM-DD file should be in this location, as in our screenshot. If not, look for the "Previous iTunes Libraries" file on your PC.
- Select the file found and copy it under Mac OS X with the key combination [CMD] + [C], under Windows with [CTRL] + [C].
- Use [CMD] + [up arrow] on Mac OS X or [ALT] + [up arrow] on Windows to go back to the previous folder.
- Now you can paste the copied file with [CMD] + [V] under Mac OS X or with [CTRL] + [V] under Windows.
- Next, rename the file to "iTunes Library.itl" (without the quotes).
- To load the file into iTunes, start iTunes by holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
- You should now see a "Choose iTunes Library" message in iTunes. Click "Choose" here and point to the file you renamed in step 7.
