Apple Pencil Compatibility: It works with these devices
Together with the iPad Pro, Apple has released a new tablet pen. On this page we explain how compatible the Apple Pencil is and which iPads, iPhones and iPods you can use with it.
Apple Pencil: These iOS devices are compatible
The Apple Pencil is much more than just an ordinary tablet pen: thanks to the thin pen tip, the movements on the touchscreen are significantly more precise than with your finger. In addition, the pen recognizes the angle of inclination and the pressure strength and adjusts its functions accordingly.
- So that you can use the many features, you need a device that supports them. You also have to download the relevant apps such as "Evernote" or "Procreate", which can also use the special functions.
- Therefore, the Apple Pencil currently only works with the iPad Pro. Older models and iPhones as well as iPods cannot implement the touch of the Apple Pencil.
- Unfortunately, the pen does not work with older devices, even apart from the special features. The touches are not even recognized.
- However, it can be assumed that upcoming models of the iPad Air and the iPad Mini will support the new tablet pen.
Our comparison to the iPad Air 2 shows whether the new iPad Pro is also worthwhile apart from the Apple Pencil.
