If your iPad doesn't recognize the Apple Pencil, it doesn't always have to be a defect. Just try these steps before going to the dealer.
Apple Pencil is not recognized by the iPad: possible reasons
That your iPad does not recognize the Apple Pencil may be due to an update from iOS, simple system errors, or hardware defects.
- Charge the Apple Pencil to make sure the battery has enough power. To determine this, you can use the battery widget.
- Check under Settings -> Bluetooth whether the pencil is visible. You may need to set it up again.
- If the Apple Pencil is visible, remove it and set it up again.
- Try registering Apple Pencil on another device. This way you can find out whether it is due to a pen or tablet.
- Try resetting the device. Make a backup beforehand as a precaution.
- If none of this works, consider going to a specialist or sending it in for warranty reasons.
