Apple Time Machine: copy backup - how it works
If you want to copy your backup from the Time Machine, you can do it in just a few steps. Find out exactly how in this practical tip.
Copy backup from Apple Time Machine - Here's how
- Open the "System Settings"> "Time Machine" and switch off the Time Machine.
- If you want to copy the backup to an external hard drive, connect it now and go to "Programs"> "Utilities".
- Select the external hard drive and give it a name. Under "Format" select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
- Then click on the "Options" button and check the "GUID partition table". Save with "OK".
- Now open the Finder and right-click on the external hard drive. Select "Information" and make sure that the "Ignore owner on this volume" is not checked.
- Now you can use the Finder to open the hard drive on which the backup is located. On the left side you will find the folder "Backups.backupdb", which you can simply copy by drag & drop.
- For security reasons, you still have to verify yourself with your administrator password.
