Calibrate Apple Watch - how it works
If you want to get more accurate measurements of your activity, you should calibrate your Apple Watch properly. In this practical tip, we will show you exactly how this works.
Instructions: Calibrate Apple Watch
If there is no GPS connection available, the Apple Watch is on its own. To ensure that distances and your pace are measured as accurately as possible even without a GPS signal, you should calibrate the smartwatch:
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone and select "Location Services" in the "Privacy" category.
- Make sure location services are enabled and Motion Calibration & Distance is turned on under System Services at the bottom.
- Stand on an empty space with Apple Watch and iPhone. The GPS signal should be as undisturbed as possible.
- Either hold your iPhone in your hand or strap it to your arm with a strap.
- Now open the workout app on the Apple Watch and select the "Outdoorwalking" or "Outdooraufen" program.
- Select a destination or the "Open" option and start the program with "Start".
- Now run for about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can split these 20 minutes into several workouts.
- Move at your usual pace. The presence of the iPhone means that the Apple Watch can now better understand your movements.
- Note: If you do your training sessions at different speeds, you should repeat the 20 minutes for each desired speed. This is how you get the best possible result.
