- Make sure you haven't accidentally turned on airplane mode. This automatically turns Bluetooth off. In addition, the devices must be close to each other.
- Switch the Bluetooth on the iPhone or iPad off and on again. To do this, swipe down from the top and tap on "Bluetooth".
- If the connection is still not established, turn the Bluetooth on the Apple Watch off and on again. Wiping from top to bottom is also sufficient. It can often help if you restart both devices.
- Check if your iPhone needs to perform important updates.
- As soon as your iPhone is up to date, open the Watch app and navigate to "My watch> General> Software update" to also update the watch.
Unpair Apple Watch and then pair again
If there are persistent problems when connecting iOS devices, it can usually help to decouple the devices and then set them up again. Since you delete the content and settings, you should first backup the Apple Watch.
- Open Settings on Apple Watch.

- Then take your iPhone or iPad and open the Watch app.
- Go to "My Watch" and tap your Apple Watch at the top.
- Then tap the orange i icon next to the Apple Watch.
- Select "Unpair Apple Watch" and confirm the query.
- After the devices are unpaired and the watch shuts down, turn on the Apple Watch and pair the devices again.
- If the connection is still not possible, you should contact Apple Support for further help.
