Overclocking RAM: This brings RAM overclocking

If you want to overclock your RAM, that's rarely a good idea. We'll tell you why RAM overclocking makes less sense.
Overclocking memory - is that possible?
- Overclock your hardware, get more out of your RAM than the manufacturer recommends. Often, the CPU and graphics card can do much more.
- You can also overclock the RAM in theory. Three useful settings can be changed when overclocking:
- This includes the operating voltage, the clock rate and the memory timing. If you increase all three values to a certain extent, you can theoretically increase the performance of your RAM.
RAM overclocking - does that make sense?
- In practice, all RAM bars can actually be overclocked, but this only makes sense for very few models. Only if the hardware is explicitly offered for overclocking do you have a good chance that overclocking will succeed.
- However, all three values must harmonize optimally with one another. The perfect balance can hardly be achieved, especially for laypersons, so that errors and failures can occur again and again.
- However, the real performance is hardly increased at all. Since the effort and risk for an imperceptible improvement are not worthwhile, we can only advise you against the project.
Instead of RAM overclocking: upgrade RAM
You can achieve significantly better results if you upgrade your RAM yourself. Not only is this safer, it doesn't cost much anymore these days:
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to check your working memory for errors.
