Ark: Survival Evolved - Taming dinos successfully
To tame a dino in Ark Survival Evolved, you need to learn some basics. We show you what these are in this article.
Ark Survival Evolved: this must be considered before taming the dinosaurs
Before you can start taming, there are a few things to consider:
- Depending on which dino you want to tame, you should acquire background knowledge about it. This includes, for example, what food he likes and how much of it he needs at each level. A very good source for these details is ArkWiki. Just enter the name of the dino you want to tame. You should then get an overview.
- If you know how much food the dino needs, you should gather the food. For example, a kangaroo needs rare mushrooms, which you only get occasionally from bushes or when mining crystal or stones.
- So always prepare well before taming and take care of the necessary materials.
Ark Survival Evolved: How to Tame a Dino
How to tame a dino is illustrated in our picture gallery below.
- First, make sure the dino or animal is passed out. This works for example with anesthetic arrows. You can make these with anesthetic paste and stone arrows.
- Depending on the animal, simple punches are enough. However, this usually only works for small animals such as the Jerboas.
- Once the animal is stunned, you must manually ensure that it stays that way. To do this, place the anesthetic in the inventory of the anesthetized animal and keep an eye on the fatigue value. If this falls below 50%, you should use the narcotics in the animal's inventory. Then the value will increase again and taming will continue.
- In addition to the narcotics, you should always put the right food in the animal's inventory. Only when the animal eats will the bar slowly fill up and you can successfully tame it.
- As already described above, you should do good research on what the animal likes. Of course, you can also tame a Jerboa with normal berries. But the small animals love mejo berries and can be tamed much faster.
- As soon as the bar is full, you have tamed the animal and can name it.
In our next practical tip, we'll show you what you can do when Ark jerks.
