Assassin's Creed 4: Defeat the legendary ships
Have you failed on the legendary ships in Assassin's Creed 4 and want to finally defeat them? In our guide we show you how it's done - ship by ship.
Before you go hunting: conquer forts
In order for the legendary ships to appear on the map, you have to conquer the corresponding forts (see regions). This alone will demand a lot from your ship. Make sure that the Jackdaw is upgraded to a high degree - chain bullets, mortars and armor are particularly important here. Otherwise you have no chance against the four legendary ships!
Legendary Ship 1: HMS Prince (Navassa Region)
- The HMS Prince, like all legendary ships, is a level 75 warship. Its particular strength lies in its speed and particularly strong mortar attacks.
- So be prepared for the HMS Prince to use its speed to keep you at a distance and to cover you with mortar fire. If necessary, dodge the yellow marked hit zones by hard "braking" and quick course changes.
- Just use the reverse conclusion here: stay very close! Best of all directly behind the HMS Prince. So the Prince's attacks go nowhere. Fire with chain projectiles and ram what the ram gives.
- While the warship will start firing at you with its stern cannons at the end of its lifespan, you should still have enough armor to win this battle.
Legendary ship 2: La Dama Negra (Serranilla region)
- Similar to the HMS Prince, the La Dama Negra relies on violent mortar attacks. The only difference: the hit zones are not displayed. So change the course as often as possible, since the La Dama Negra mostly targets the area in front of you.
- Since the La Dama Negra is so heavily armored on its sides that your hits simply fizzle out, the same applies here: Get to the stern!
- Cover the warship with chain projectiles and ramming attacks, as soon as it slows down, fire off your mortar, turn your broadside towards the stern and fire from all pipes. After repeating this a few times, the victory should be yours.
Legendary Ship 3: HMS Fearless / Royal Sovereign (Eleuthera Region)
- You will try to sink not one, but two legendary warships here. Their armor is a bit weaker than that of the HMS Prince, for example, but dealing with both at once will take everything you need.
- It is vital for survival: do not let the two ships circle you! Otherwise you will find yourself in a firestorm from broadside missiles, which it is difficult to withstand.
- Rather try to go directly to one of the two ships. This is worked on with the well-known stern tactics, i.e. a combination of chain projectiles and ram spur.
- If you have damaged one of the ships sufficiently, you can make a decision: either sink the anchored ship and hack the remaining one from a distance with mortars, or you turn to the other ship from this point and sink both in quick succession.
- Keep in mind that as soon as one of the ships sinks, his "partner" who is left behind will try to take "revenge" and start ramming attacks at high speed. These can cause you immense damage.
Legendary Ship 4: El Impoluto (Dry Tortuga Region)
- The El Impoluto will probably put you to the toughest fight. This warship is far more aggressive and can cause you devastating damage with its ram.
- If the El Impoluto starts ramming from the front, also head towards you and fire your chain projectiles to slow them down. Now you can use your own ram in return.
- If the warship is on your neck, drop fire barrels to force it to turn around. If the El Impoluto turns away from you, also turn and attack with the stern tactic described above.
